Posted with apologies for the brief, imagery-lacking instructions
1. Cut 120 vilene square and *iron onto t-shirt panels. Place in pairs and iron where you want to retain a logo on the 'face' (good side of cloth). Tip: here I cut the squares from iron-on Vilene (12x12cm) first to keep uniformity of size and prevent the jersey fabrics stretching out of place during sewing.2. Cut around vilene squares allowing for *1.5cm extra t-shirt fabric on all sides
3. Lay out your patten on the floor or large table. Tweak until your happy.
4. Sew squares in horizontal rows
5. Sew the long strips together in vertical rows.
6.Layer microfibre fleece or real wool lining fabric (price and use dependant- microfibre
washes easier) on reverse.
7. Lay backing fabric (more fleece for warmth or cotton print for contrast) face-down on the face (good side) of the blanket. Pin edges.
8. Sew around the blanket- it will be heavy so work on a big table or ask someone to support the weight as you sew. Leave a gap to turn it the right way out.
9. Hand-sew closed and iron well.
9a. You could, if your sewing machine is robust, top-stitch (visible stitching on the surface through all layers) around the edge for a sharper finish.
Note: a traditional quilt would then have hand-sewing added to create the 'corrugated' surface quality. You could a) put a stitch at the corners of every square in the blanket (quicker option); or b) sew along all vertical and horizontal lines through all layers.
